I'm looking for programs in photo editing and sound editing. Most preferably sound editing, because I am in need of that for a starcraft map.
EDIT:
Also would be nice of you to include a link please?

For making beats, use fruity loops or LMMS. LMMS is free, fruity loops is better.
Red classic.

As Lotus said, for photo editing Photoshop is by far the best on the marked on any platform. You can download a trial version at Adobes website, but you need to register first and the file is rather large. You can also go for GIMP. It's a highly lightweighten program that offers many features similiar to Photoshop. It's a quick and simple install file, you can find the program at:

GIMP's free but not particularly easy to use for editing photographs specifically. It's tricky, but I use it, so if you need help with it, PM me.
Audacity's extremely basic; for creating sounds and simple editing, it'll work, but anything beyond basic and it's useless. I once tried to use it to make a clip of Cartman singing "Pokerface" loop. I
succeeded... after many, many hours and a lot of frustration. (And then I found out that the clip was sufficiently long enough that my cell phone would never actually loop it. All that work for nothing...)
EDIT: @Deev: "HCM" is a clan tag.
None.
HCM?... you mean LoTu)S, right? HCM is just the clan he's in. By the way, thanks.
EDIT: Now that that's taken care of, onto the sound editing. I need something that can create and edit .WAV files, like I said it's for a
map.

Audacity, though again, you'll probably have trouble using it for anything advanced.
EDIT: If it's at all possible, could you perhaps give us details on what kind of sound editing you need to do? Could help us find a program that meets your needs.
None.
Just something I can use for saving .WAV files and just being able to cut out any uneeded parts.
None.
I order you to forgive yourself!
With so many audio editors out there, finding the right tool for the job can be tricky. The multiplatform, open-source editor Audacity has leaped to the top of our list with its clean interface, excellent features, and support for 32-bit floating-point audio. Audacity succeeds at being both feature-rich and flexible, while keeping the toolbar and work space uncluttered. It does this by relegating most functions--such as effects, edits, and project management--to handy drop-down menus.
Audacity supports uncompressed audio standards such as WAV and AIFF in addition to OGG and MP3 files. A full complement of basic effects such as reverb, delay, and compression are included. Virtual Studio Technology (VST), Linux Audio Developers Simple Plugin Architecture (LAPSDA), and Nyquist plug-ins also are available if you're looking to expand. Another eye-catching feature is the Beat Analyzer, which helps you peg the beats per minute of a phrase.
The performance of most functions is quick--even CPU-hogging tasks such as exporting to MP3 or adding complex effects. Though Audacity doesn't offer advanced effects or features out of the box, its usability and price set this freeware wonder above the crowd.
I've used Audacity in the past and it went pretty well.
But if you really want my trick, I always use a movie editing software when I work with sounds. All I do at the end is to export it as a high quality wav.
Just something I can use for saving .WAV files and just being able to cut out any uneeded parts.
Then you're in luck. Audacity, though limited, happens to excel at those two tasks.

sweet.... so uhh... are you going to post a link, or make me go through the long and boring task of googling it? >_>

What. It takes like 2 seconds.

Well,
Just something I can use for saving .WAV files and just being able to cut out any uneeded parts.
the standard old school windows recording program can do that, haha! .. It both records, show waves and allows you to cut, simple, easy and defintly limited on features. But cmon, who havn't had fun recording somethin init and slowing/speeding it up for fun effects!

Here you go.

For a while when I still had windows, all I would use was "Recorder" and "Paint".
Tanks for googling it for me, David

If you actually want slight photo editing and no extras, I recommend Picasa for photos. It's a photo-management tool - has nice filters to improve color, has face-recognition/naming and can, with enough data, actually guess the people in new photos based off named in old photos, it comes with a kick-ass photo viewer (instead of default windows one) and can do basic retouching to remove blemishes and such. It integrates with Google's Picasa photo-hosting service for instant uploads, which is nice.
If you want to do advanced stuff, Photoshop is best, GIMP is best free alternative. Other cheaper-than-Photoshop-but-not-free alternatives are Photoshop Elements and Corel Paint Shop Pro.

Um...
I know you got it already, but I thought I'd point it out because it was the very first response that basically solved the topic...
actually, nuderaider, he edited that post and put the link there before I asked the question...
